good eye candy today

Three nice hotties on the trail today. One in dark blue shorts and white tank top, the second wearing dark blue shorts and an orange tank top and the third with light blue shorts and a white tank top. All three were looking good and I turned to check each out after they passed.

getting away: good; returning: bad

J and I had a little get away this weekend while my parents watched the kids. We left Peoria around 1pm Saturday and went to Bloomington (Illinois). We stopped at Sonic in East Peoria on the way out there. Love Sonic. We did a little shopping before checking in at the Hampton Inn on the east side of town where we tried out the new K-Y yours+mine product. Didn't do too much for me, but J definitely enjoyed it. After that we went to dinner at Destihl. Dinner there was part of the "romance package" at the hotel. Following dinner we went to Shooter's Lounge to play a few games of darts. Then it was on to the big event of the night: a visit to Kappa Kabanna. Let's just say that our money was well spent there. Back at the hotel we enjoyed the exceptionally comfortable bed. Sunday included more leisurely shopping and lunch at Qdoba before returning home. A very enjoyable and rejuvenating break from our daily lives.

Or so I felt as we were returning home. I missed the kids and was feeling somewhat at peace with my lot in life. Even appreciative of all that I have.

Then we got home and the kids got on my nerves instantly. All the empathy and sympathy I had felt for J2 due to his myriad physiological and psychological difficulties evaporated and was replaced by anger, bitterness and depression.

straw improvement

The Subway in Chillicothe has upgraded significantly their straws. Gone are the weak straws wrapped tightly in clingy, high-friction plastic wrappers. In their place are much tougher straws in loose plastic wrappers that you can actually pop off by stabbing it into the table without destroying the straw. Too bad this store has yet to make a similarly pleasant upgrade of its staff.

old habits that need to be broken

Old habit #1: Almost continuously looking down at the ground immediately in front of me while jogging. Not sure why I want to break this habit, just seems like looking up and looking ahead would be better (assuming the terrain is smooth enough to allow for this). I believe this habit stems from beginning to jog in Wisconsin in the winter in the dark on city sidewalks. Avoiding falling on one's face due to ice and sidewalk declivities required intense focus on the path ahead.

Old habit #2: Viewing all attractive women I meet as potential sex partners. Not just the occasional, passing thought, but extensive scenario development, scheming, plotting, manipulating and ultimately action. I went down that path to its fruition (and subsequent collapse) once. I still find myself exercising the same old thought paths. Last night I made the mistake of taking it to the next level. I arranged to meet belly tattoo girl at a bar, just her and me. Nothing untoward happened and the conversation was devoid of flirting or sexual references, but the whole thing was inappropriate nonetheless. A fact which I gradually realized and finally accepted on my way home. I told J when I got home where I had been and with whom. On the one hand she was of course disappointed, but magnanimously appreciative on the other that I had told her instead of concealing my failure as I have in the past. I am very lucky to have J. Being with me must be payment for some kind of karmic debt from a past life of hers. At this point she has certainly overpaid that bill. Any recommendations on stopping compulsive behavior?

a year later

It has been a year since I wrecked my car. I was very fortunate to only injure my right knee. I thought about this a lot while jogging this afternoon (no hotties on the trail).

another boring weekend

Watched the kids while J went running and got a haircut, mowed the lawn, took a shower, replaced the propane tank for the grill.

most awesome Barney quote

On last night's How I Met Your Mother, Barney spoke the following gem while talking about being in a relationship:
not hot passionate love, couple love, you know: movie night with my girlfriend then waiting for her to go to bed so I can steal one pitiful moment of hollow ecstasy by the cold blue light of my computer monitor
I am glad I have a DVR so I could pause the show until I stopped laughing maniacally, then back up and enjoy it again and again.

back on the trail

Tonight was the first week night I have jogged on the trail since the middle of last year. I had jogged a few times on the weekends this season since the weather has turned, but this was the first week night. Much busier than it has been on the weekends. Probably because most of the users are concentrated in the small time window after work. Due to J2's evening activity schedule I will mostly be jogging city streets during the week so my trail hottie spotting will be limited to the weekends.

All you ladies out there: get your sports bra, Lycra boy shorts, running cap with pony tail sticking out and moisture wicking exercise thong on and get out there and give me something to blog about!

wasted capability

While stopping at the post office during my lunch today there was a nice BMW 5 series in the parking lot. I got inside to find 4 people in front of me in line and I wondered which one had the BMW. There was a middle aged woman, two middle aged men and one decrepit old dude whose back was so bent that his upper spinal column was almost parallel to the ground as he stood. The lady is first in line and she completes her business and gets into a mini van. Old dude is next and is surprisingly quick with his transaction. He shuffles out and to my amazement and dismay he gets into the BMW! The performance of that car is utterly wasted on this guy. If he used even half of its acceleration capability (lateral or longitudinal) he would break in half!

Kellogg's is no better than Clairol

Kellogg's response to my inquiry about the labeling of their syrup:

Thank you for contacting us regarding the product measurement for the Eggo(r) Syrup Lite.

We follow the FDA regulations for labeling of net weight, which states that fluid measures are expressed in terms of US gallon, quart, pint, and fluid ounce. Net contents may additionally be stated in the metric system.

We appreciate your interest in our company and products.

At least they didn't use made up words like "liquidy" as the shampoo people did.

another units problem

While eating breakfast this morning I noticed that the syrup states "Net Weight" then gives values in fluid ounces and milliliters. Looks like I will have to contact Kellogg's.
